Pros and Cons of staring a company in today’s market

Question : Discuss about the Full Risk and Uncertainties Economis ? Answer : Introduction Starting a business enterprise is a potentially beneficial and exciting prospect that is full of risk and uncertainties. Irrespective of starting a sole proprietorship business or forming a partnership firm, it is important for an individual to study the pros and cons related to the business. On the other hand, the individual must study the market conditions that may influence the business to develop an appropriate strategy to operate the business (Besser Miller, 2010). Learning the facts regarding the market and business helps to take realistic decisions that increase the chances of the survival of the firm. According to the statistical report, only seven out of ten businesses can survive for two years and only a quarter of the seven businesses will survive for fifteen or more years. Discussion Currently, the business owners can make use of different market analysis tools to observe the factors that may influence the operations of the business. For example, PESTEL analysis, SWOT analysis, Porters Five Force analysis are the most used management tools to judge the external and internal market factors that may influence the business. Furthermore, the business owners can make use of government reports and data from other organisations to judge the success rate of business. Meanwhile, it is important for a business owner to understand the pros and cons of starting a new business in the current market (Lan, 2009). Hence, the advantages and cons of starting a new business have been presented herein below: The primary reason for an individual to start a business is to reap professional and personal benefits. By starting a new business, an individual can determine own working hours, work environment and work pace (Freeman, 2017). On the other hand, the new business provides the individual with a career of own choice and interest. Furthermore, opening a new business represents a freedom of life and work balance. A person may feel illogical due to the limitations faced while working for others including the limited number of positions and mismanagement within the company (Bradt Davis, 2014). Furthermore, the business can lead to financial success for an individual and provide name and fame to the person starting a business. According to an article in the USA Today, the chances of a self-employed businessman to become a millionaire increases by four times than a traditional employee (Usatoday30.usatoday.com, 2017). A start-up business can be identified as a tiring pursuit although it is invigorating, to say the least. Setting up a business platform in a target location is an art of perfection. Most importantly, a business owner must be attached to the work around 52 hours a week whereas for a service person 40 hours of work in a week would be enough (Palmer, 2015). Precisely, the time investment in a start-up business can be recognised as a difficult task to get over. Furthermore, for a start-up business a number of insurance terms, liability arrangements, and legal paper works will be inevitable. Hence, funding and responsibilities of the owner will be enhanced in a significant order (Brenowitz, 2013). Therefore, sometimes, it will get difficult for an entrepreneur to meet all the requirements simultaneously. Moreover, a start-up business entrepreneur must make all arrangement for hiring the staff members and paying the employees. During the business crisis, responsibilities must be met toward s the staffs sacrificing personal benefits (Freeman, 2017). The leading consideration in a start-up business should be the associated market risk. Precisely, a start-up business must have enough financial resources to run a business for several months. Therefore, a new business must focus on paying bills rather than making profits at the primary level (Besser Miller, 2010). Alternatively, the demand and supply of the product or services offered by the start-up company must be matched with the market situation. If there are so many market competitors, the risk of growth will be evident. As a result of the circumstances, market analysis and fund allocation can be identified as the major resources for long-run stability in business (Hefer, Cant, Wiid, 2015). Conclusion Broadly speaking, starting-up a business and running it for a long-run, management will be the key to success. First of all, allocation of cash flow and negotiating with significant terms will lead to broadening the business perspective. Though there are sufficient risk and reward associated with a start-up business, flexibility in contemporary business practices will be crucial for entrepreneurs. Through the improvisation of cash flow, workforce, and management ideas, a well-thought out start-up business can create a significant market presence. Specifically, building the right strategy for the business course must be defined. Arguably, a start-up business has more positives than negatives if the resources allocation will be made in an efficient way. References Besser, T. Miller, N. (2010). A Study Of A Dionysiac Sarcophagus Essay free essay sample

, Research Paper In the Los Angeles County Art Museum A adult male dies. He winds his manner down into the underworld to make the Bankss of the river Acheron where he meets the ferryman Charon. He takes a coin from his oral cavity to pay the toll across. On the opposite bank he is greeted by a Maenad or possibly Bacchus himself who offers him a cylix of vino. Drinking deep, the adult male is transformed and resurrected from decease to a higher plane. Alternatively of populating a suffering dream in the underworld he receives salvation from his God Dionysos, the Savior. In Roman imperial times at that place was a great revival of the # 8220 ; Mystery # 8221 ; cults of Greece fueled by the hope of a life after decease. In funerary memorials there can be seen the dogmas of the faith every bit good as how it views the hereafter. Within the Los Angeles County Art Museum stands such a vas created to ease this journey to ageless cloud nine. A gift from William Randolph Hearst, the piece is a sarcophagus from the Severan period of the Roman imperium near the terminal of the 2nd century detailing a emanation of Dionysos, the God of vino, and his followings. Such a emanation could be from Dionysos # 8217 ; s messianic journeys or from his triumphal return from distributing the vino cult. Originally in the mausoleum of a affluent household in Rome, the sarcophagus was in ulterior times used as a plantation owner for a flower bed ( Matz, 3 ) . This # 8220 ; misuse # 8221 ; of the piece explains the impairment of the marble which necessitated extended Restoration in the seventeenth century ( 4 ) . It is tub shaped with dimensions of 2.1 metres long and 1 metre broad, standing 0.6 metres from the land. The form is similar to tubs used for treading grapes which had spouts ornamented with king of beastss # 8217 ; caputs to vent the vino ( 3 ) . Bing shaped like a wine VAT makes the sarcopagi a transformative force in its ain right by symbolically turning the individual interned within into vino! conveying him closer to the God. Unlike other sarcophagi of the period the dorsum of this piece has non been left unhewn, but alternatively a strigal form of reiterating # 8220 ; S # 8221 ; forms has been carved, proposing that the piece may hold stood in the centre of the mausoleum. Unlike other more celebrated and luxuriant Dionysiac sarcophagi, such as the Seasons sarcophagi and the Triumph of Dionysos in Baltimore which portray specific polar events in the mythos of Dionysos, this piece gives us alternatively a slightly generic piece of Bacchic life ( Matz, 5 ) . The manner and portraiture of the figures, of class, predate the Roman imperium ; sarcophagi of this type were mass produced in stores based on forms and drawings from Grecian craftsmans ( Alexander, 46 ) . Dionysos himself is in the centre keeping his sceptre, the thyrsos, in his left manus and pouring vino with his right while siting a jaguar, a sacred animate being closely associated with the God ( Matz, 4 ) . Flanking him are two king of beasts caputs that represent Dionysos # 8217 ; s efforts to get away decease at the custodies of the colossuss by transforming into a king of beasts, among other animate beings, which so lead to his decease and subsequent metempsychosis ( Graves, 103-104 ) . To the right of Dionysos is Silenus, his coach from his childhood, keeping a vas most likely filled with vino. The presence of Silenus reinforces the cult # 8217 ; s belief in ageless young person. Following to Silenus is a Maenad, or female raver, playing a flute above Pan the caprine animal God of the forest. Below Pan and the right king of beasts caput are two cherubs, one have oning a mask of Silenus while the other rears back in fear ( Matz, 4 ) . On the left of Dionysos are two lecher and another smaller image of Pan keeping a cup of vino. Further left is another Maenad, this one playing a tambourine, who is being followed by a lecher. Below the left king of beasts caput there is another cherub, or putto, and a immature lecher. Rounding out the left side on the terminal is still another maenad followed by a lecher. On the right terminal there is a lecher, playing the cymbals, following a half bare maenad. Completing the piece, in the background behind the chief figures there are two childs ( an animate being Dionysos frequently transformed into ) , another pan and a little jaguar. Through looking at the piece we can acquire some thought of what a assemblage of the cult is like for the followings. The pattern of the cult was wholly informal when compared to idolize in the temples of the canonic Gods. Unlike worship of the Gods of the state-sponsored faith, Bacchic festivals took topographic point out-of-doorss far off from the crowded metropoliss in the woods which harkens back to antediluvian times before adult male built temples. When they arrived in the wood, Dionysos gave them herbs, berries, and wild caprine animals to eat and plenty to imbibe ( Hamilton, 57 ) . Wine of class was of all time present at these assemblages to honour the vino God. Wine was a sacramental representation of the God himself ; imbibing vino freed the novice from the restraints of earthly affairs to come together with the God through rapture which literally translated from the original Greek means ‘outside the body’ ( Mcann, 128 ) . This individualistic nature of Communion continually practiced gave the f aithful a feeling! of intimacy with the God. The mask of Silenus on one of the putti is a nod to the importance theatre played in the cult. The greatest poets of Greece wrote dramas honouring Dionysos which were considered sacred to the cult. Both comedies and calamities were performed, reflecting the double nature of the God and of vino itself ( Hamilton, 61 ) . Wine can animate adult male to lofty enterprises and merry frolicking, but, it can besides turn him into a barbarian animal. Like the Egyptian God Osiris, Dionysos suffered a violent decease by taking apart. Cult members would honour the God by manic taking apart of bulls and sometimes unfortunate work forces rent with custodies and dentitions which were so devoured, symbolically taking Dionysos within themselves. This ghastly ritual, accompanied by loud music and the crashing of cymbals, was intended to impel the reveller even further into a province of rapture to accomplish a release from the organic structure. These rites of sacrament and Communion root from the myths environing Dionysos typifying his birth, life, decease, and metempsychosis of the God through the ageless reclamation of life in the natural universe which give the faithful a promise of an ageless being. Of great significance to the bookman is the window that sarcophagi and other funerary memorials give into the lives every bit good as the afterlives of the practicians of the cult. In the instance of the Bacchic cult it is particularly of import in that before the Romans became more unfastened to the emerging prevalence of the cults of the 2nd century small is known of their funerary patterns due to the cloak of secretiveness environing the enigma cult. In fact, the cultists were persecuted by the Roman province faith prior to the credence of the rediscovered cults by the blue category as evidenced by increasing figure of such sarcophagi ( Lehman, 24,26 ) In utilizing such sarcophagi incorporating the portraiture of their religion and credos, the followings of the cult were guaranting themselves godly protection and a faith-ordained hereafter. Managerial Roles and Skills Essay Example

Managerial Roles and Skills Essay Write a note on the managerial roles and skills? [10] Mangerial Roles and Skills Mangerial Roles: To meet the many demands of performing their functions, managers assume multiple roles. A role is an organized set of behaviors. Henry Mintzberg (1973) has identified ten Sub roles common to the work of all managers. The ten roles are divided into three groups: interpersonal, informational, and decisional. According to Henry Mintzberg(1973), managers in an organization, in order to be effective in their jobs, act in specific ways when they interact with others in the course of performing the four management functions of planning, organizing, leading and controlling. These particular behavior patterns or roles were described by Mintzberg as 10 management roles, which he classified into 3 groups. * Interpersonal Roles * Informational Roles * Decisional Roles 1. Interpersonal Roles The interpersonal roles are roles in which managers develop and maintain relationships. Interpersonal roles include the manager as figurehead, the manager as leader, and the manager as liaison. Figurehead: Managers being the head of a unit of an organization, represent their organization in ceremonial and symbolic activities, therefore serving as a figurehead. Leader: the responsibility to hire, train and motivate the people who work for the organization also lies with the managers, therefore making them the leader of the work force. Liaison: A manager performs the role of a liaison by building relationships with people outside the managers own unit. Informational Roles In the course of performing informational roles, a manager acquires, processes and communicates information. The three informational roles are: Monitor: Managers continually scan the environment to pick up useful information by interacting with people within and outside their own units. Disseminator: as disseminators, managers share and distribute information they have acquired to people within the organization. Spokesperson: as spokesperson, manager provides information to people outside the organization. . Decisional Roles Decisional roles are those roles in which managers examine alternatives and then make choices and commitments. These decisions range from minor choices to major strategic decisions. The four decisional roles are: Entrepreneur: Managers initiate changes to improve their units or to adapt to changing conditions in the outside world. The se changes may involve new products, processes or solution to problems. Disturbance handler: as disturbance handler, managers make changes to solve unanticipatedproblems that result from forces beyond their control. Resource allocator: Managers make choices about the quantity of people, money and available material to be used to achieve the organizational goal. Negotiator: the role of negotiator involves bargaining with others to support the organizations goal. Managerial Skills Managers, whether top-level, middle-level, or supervisory-level, need specific skill to be effective in their job. Management expert Robert L. Katz identified three basic skills that managers need. Katz (1974) has identified three essential management skills. They are: 1. Conceptual Skills Conceptual skills enable the managers to see the organization as a whole, and to understand how the various parts of the organization inter-relate. By applying conceptual skills, managers are able to recognize the consequences of any actions they take. Conceptual skills include the ability to analyze a situation, determine the root of any problems or opportunities, and devise an appropriate plan. Once managers have assessed why such a situation has arrived, he can create plans to solve the problem or to help the organization capitalize on good situations. . Interpersonal Skills Interpersonal skills allow the managers to work well with and through other people and to communicate effectively within a group. It is also called human skills or people skills because good interpersonal skills enable a manager to encourage people to freely share their ideas without fear of being criticized. In addition to this, good interpersonal skills enable managers to understand the needs and motivation of others and make them cooperative members of groups in which they participate. 3. Technical Skills Technical skills are abilities enabling managers to use knowledge, methods, tools, techniques, and equipment to perform specialized tasks. Managers usually develop their technical skills through education and then by working in one or more functional areas of an organization such as accounting or marketing. Q2. Discuss the methods of shaping behavior in details. [10] Shaping is a conditioning procedure used primarily in the experimental analysis of behavior. It was introduced by B. F. Skinner  with pigeons and extended to dogs, dolphins, humans and other species. In shaping, the form of an existing response is gradually changed across successive trials towards a desired target behavior using differential reinforcement. The principles of shaping are present in everyday interactions with the environment. In the case of a human trainer employing shaping to change another organisms behavior, this procedure is used when giving verbal instructions   is impossible due to the absence of language or communication between the two. main are of two types s-r and r-s Methods of Shaping Behavior Extinction: According to operating conditioning, both good and bad behaviors are controlled by reinforced consequences. Identifying behavioral reinforces and removing them can decrease a behavior. An undesired behavior without reinforcement can diminish until it no longer occurs. This process is called extinction. Extinction can modify the behavior of a worker who spends much time talking or telling jokes. The attention of coworkers reinforces this behavior. If coworkers stop talking and laughing, the worker is likely to stop telling jokes. Although extinction is useful, it takes time to eliminate the undesired behavior. When behaviors need to stop immediately, managers may resort to punishment. Punishment: Punishment consists of administering a negative consequence when the undesired behavior occurs. Punishment is not the same as negative reinforcement. It decreases a behavior, whereas negative reinforcement increases the frequency of a behavior. Punishment administers a negative consequence, whereas negative reinforcement removes a negative consequence. Reinforcement Reinforcement is the process that increases the probability that desired behaviors occur by applying consequences. Managers use reinforcement to increase the likelihood of higher sales, better attendance, or observing safety procedures. Reinforcement begins by selecting a behavior to be encouraged. Correctly identifying the behavior is important, or reinforcement will not lead to the desired response. A manager must decide if attendance at meetings is the desired behavior or attendance and participation. The manager would need to reinforce both behaviors if both are desired.
